seven to ten days, eh?

somebody at my old workplace got bell's palsy, just like i did a year ago. the thing is, he got it on both sides of his face. too bad it's not someone i actually dislike, because otherwise i could cackle wickidly and call it a day. however, i do feel sorry for this fellow.

his doctor told him it would go away soon, just like my doctor. so i was asked for some "advice" and i said, eat healthy, take a b-complex and/or b-12 supplement, and obviously, he should be taping his eyes shut every night as to prevent eye damage.

turns out his doctor didn't even tell him to do that! the vitamin b thing i can understand, neither doctors i visited knew about it. all they can really do is shrug their shoulders about treatment. but not informing your patient about essential things - like how to prevent corneal ulcers and eye infections - is disturbing on so many levels. i've been on a few bell's message boards and it appears that many patients' doctors are equally dismissive and unknowledgeable about bell's in general.

it almost makes me want to write a book.

Comments:

i have bell's too, and my"doctor" gave me some pills and sent me on my way, 5 years later...i still have it. i'm one of the unlucky one's whose faciel features never come back.

Tina: if you do write a book, be sure to include your blogs of when you were actually going through it. they brought me to tears....or tear....if you know what i mean
