sometimes the best things are hidden

take, for example, the overpriced martinis at the collection (pronounced, colec-zzionne, a la accente francais). this is a fairly classy swanky place with snakeprint booth seats, the most romantic lighting ever, and the most extensive martini menu in the world, ranging from popular regulars like sour pussy and multiple orgasm, to the more exotic, like the lotus, femme violet, sexual pleasure, bleu nuit, and many more.

with names like these you want to try them all, so the best option is for everyone to get something different, and then you can have a little sip at everything. the menu is arranged so that every martini name is a different print size, so some like the overrated oatmeal cookie are in big huge flashing letters, while other sneaky devilish little numbers like the femme violet are hider to find.

i remember the first time we went jessie picked something called the rising sun, which, sounds so boring it's in the tiniest print, but she said to me, "it has the most things." and it did. but i wasn't impressed yet, and by the time our martinis came i was too busy trying out my mystique to really care. then as we were passing them around, i got a taste of something fabulous..

"what is this?"

"it's the rising sun, it's the one i got, remember?"

"this is .... DIVINE..."

"i know!"

bursts of fruity flavours exploded in my mouth, causing me to moan involuntarily and then giggle in embarrassment. the liquers subtely charmed my tastebuds, sending them into a hizzy and making me moan once again. and then giggle once again. they should call this the multiple orgasm! i thought.

so there you have it folks. if a martini menu can hide delicious treasures like that, then you know the same law applies in real life. the best things in this world, the most beautiful things in this universe, are never right in front of our noses. they require more work. they are the little pretty bistros tucked into the corners of a market. the one good ripe tomato hidden in a stack of rotting fruit. the little flower that blooms through the sidewalk cracks. they're there, they exist, and you can get at it, but you have to search a little further to find them.
